In-Season
In-season rugby training that keeps you fast on match day
An eight-week block built around your fixtures. Hold your speed and strength, manage your contact load, and turn up fresh every weekend. Read through by a coach before it's sent.
What in-season training has to solve
- Hold, don't chase. The pre-season work is in the bank. In-season is about protecting it through matches, travel and contact.
- Speed and power stay in. They fall off the fastest and matter the most. They're in every week.
- Match day comes first. Sessions are sequenced so you arrive fresh, not carrying fatigue from a program that ignores your fixture.
- Written for your position. A prop and a fullback shouldn't be running the same in-season week.
What's in the program
- Match-week structure — sessions mapped to MD-4, MD-3, MD-2, MD+1.
- Two full gym sessions plus a short primer, adjustable to your schedule.
- Heavy-but-low-volume strength work on the main lifts.
- Speed, acceleration and power exposures every week.
- Neck and upper-back work for contact tolerance.
- Warm-up flows and recovery notes.
Who it's for
Rugby players currently in a season — school, club, college, academy — who want to hold their performance instead of losing it. Under-18s are supported with a guardian consent step.
Common questions
What does in-season training look like?
The job in-season isn't to add more work — it's to hold what you built and turn up fresh on match day. Lower session volume, still-heavy strength work, speed and power kept in every week, and sessions sequenced around your fixture (MD-4, MD-3, MD-2, MD+1).
How many gym sessions a week?
Usually two full sessions plus a short primer, laid out around your match day. The exact split depends on your position, how many minutes you're playing, and your contact load — the assessment asks about all of that.
Will lifting in-season slow me down?
No. Losing your strength and power in-season is the bigger risk. Loads stay heavy enough to hold what you've built while the volume drops so you arrive at match day fresh.
I play every weekend. Does this still work?
Yes — it's built for that. If you're on a heavier schedule (midweek games, tournaments), flag it in the Player Profile and I'll adjust the loading and recovery before the program is sent.
Can I switch to off-season programming after?
Yes. Grab an off-season block when your season ends and the next program picks up from where you actually are, not from zero.
